Ponder Dawn showes her class
Thursday for a 20-race meet which produced plenty of excitement.
Two-year-old Ponder Dawn won both her heats for owner Daniel Greenslade while Gold Mate, also a two-year-old filly and full sister to Brittany Gold, won both of her heats for the Inwood Stables.
Robert Lopes' black mare Trottacre Byrd continued to show improvement with two victories, nosing out Championne County and Jandis Giddyupgo in the second heat in a winning time of 1:11.2.
Jandis Giddyupgo was driven by Mark Richardson who joins a growing list of youngsters becoming involved with the sport.
Six ponies now have one leg out of their current time bar -- Miss Tuffer Road, Crunchtime, Trottacre Byrd, Championne County, Meteau Design and Shamrock's Formal Attire. Two of these are headed for the Free For All with Meteau Design, driven by Samantha Hayward, winning in 1:08 flat and Eddie Roque's Shamrock Formal Attire turning in the fatest time of the day with a blistering 1:07.4.
EATON DEFENDS MID OCEAN TITLE GLF Eaton defends Mid Ocean title Austin Eaton successfully defended his Men's Invitational title at Mid Ocean Club yesterday, wrapping up victory on the 18th hole against Mark Oldham.
Having dismissed club champion Steve Duxbury in the semi-finals, Eaton was given a close fight in the final before emerging victorious, two up.
The senior division championship flight final was more one-sided as Paul Evans comfortably defeated Gerard Kenny six and five.
