Pot punish leaders
record but also the top spot in the A Division on Saturday when third-placed Lobster Pot pulled off an upset 2-1 victory.
Late transfer signing Troy Berkeley set up both Pot goals, the first after 15 minutes which Enda O'Reilly scored and the winner in the second half by Christian Thomas. Wanderers had equalised in the first half through David Lawler.
Pot remain unbeaten in third place but are now just two points behind new leaders Robin Hood who moved a point clear of Wanderers. And the restaurant team could climb higher when they host Hood this Saturday at White Hill field, that match having been put back from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Hood, the defending champions, are also still unbeaten as they made it five wins in six games with a 6-0 thrashing of PHC Raiders. Donny Smyth and Alan Mooney both netted twice.
Mooney's fifth minute strike was all that separated the teams in the first half before Hood ran riot with their last five goals coming in a 12 minute period early in the second half.
Paul Towlson scored in the 53rd, Smyth in the 55th and 60th, Paul Scope in the 57th and Mooney his second in the 65th.
Fourth-placed Fire Service slipped off the pace when they went down 4-2 to North Village Rams, one place below them in the standings. Richard Simmons and Ross Lambe netted in the 7th and 13th minutes to give Rams a 2-0 lead at the half before Lambe scored the third in the 58th.
Fire brought the score back to 3-2 when Randy Boyles and Kenneth Bartrum scored in the 72nd and 74th minutes, but Leroy Neasley made sure of victory for Rams with his team's fourth two minutes from the end.
Bottom team MR Onions, boosted by their FA Cup win last weekend, broke their duck in the league when they beat Vasco Mariners 3-1 for their first win in the league.
Chris Fleming, Billy Spencer and Glen Dunne scored for Onions who moved off the bottom, ahead of Mariners, for whom Joe Barosso replied.
In Division B, St. George's All-Stars remain the only team in the Commercial League with a perfect record after their 3-2 win over Devonshire All-Stars.
Kenny Pearman, Michael Steede and Eugene Crockwell scored the St. George's goals.
Steede's goal was scored from all of 50 yards after goalkeeper Stevie Simmons midjudged the ball in the strong wind and it bounced over his head.
James Tweed and William (Squigley) Benjamin replied for Devonshire All-Stars.
The BAA Wanderers-Mariners match on Saturday has been switched from 1.00 to 3.00 at BAA Field.
