Prospect Hurt Wolves' promotion

BAA leap-frogged over Wolves in the hunt for the second promotion spot, taking advantage of the latter's failure against Prospect to take over the spot behind Daihatsu Second Division leaders Devonshire Cougars.

Cleveland Critchlow led a goal feast at White Hill field for the visitors, notching two goals while Duncan Ashworth and an own goal completed a day of misery for Port Royal.

The Green Knights trail Cougars by five points, but more importantly are one ahead of Wolves with a game in hand heading into the crucial final weeks of the season.

And with Paget slated as the opposition next week the picture indeed appears rosy for BAA as they eye the promotion and Shield double.

Dev. Cougars v Paget (Devonshire won by default) Paget could find themselves in for a form of disciplinary action after they failed to show for their home match with Devonshire Cougars at Southampton Oval.

Floundering at the bottom of the tables the perennial strugglers reached their lowest point thus far with their inability to field a team.

The win allowed Cougars to move within two points of claiming a spot in the First Division next year and they can `seal-the-deal' on Thursday night with a win over Hamilton Parish in a make-up match.

Prospect 4, Wolves 0 Wolves saw their promotion hopes severely dashed at Police field when Prospect beat them for the second time in the league this season.

But unlike the 3-1 loss on November 19, third-placed Wolves have precious little time now to recover to offer BAA a challenge for the second spot.

Peter Philpott opened the scoring for Prospect in the 43rd minute and second half goals from goalkeeper-turned-striker Andrew Bissell (2) and Michael Thomas sealed Prospect's comfortable victory.

YMSC 2, Som. Eagles 2 Somerset Eagles and Young Men's Social Club battled to a 2-2 draw yesterday at the PHC stadium.

Eagles went ahead early in the first half with a strike from Eddie Callender, but Social Club's Eugene Williams equalised soon after.

Just before the interval however, Eagles' Everett Wellman put his side ahead as they went into half-time 2-1 ahead.

Social Club missed several scoring opportunities in the second half, but left winger George Liburd ensured that they would share the points when he drilled the ball home from close range.
