Puerto Rico booked for holiday tour
negotiating for Puerto Rico's national team to visit the Island, it has been announced that same Caribbean country will fly in as guests of the Bermuda Police soccer section.
The BFA were in talks with Puerto Rico in a bid to bring them here before Christmas so that the national team could get vital match practice leading up to the Shell/Caribbean Cup in April.
But in a surprise announcement on Monday, Police confirmed that Puerto Rico would fly in with a team from the New York Police Department called the New York Enforcers.
The schedule is not yet complete but plans so far have matches at Police Field on December 18 and 22, at National Stadium on December 19 and at Somerset CC on December 23.
In addition to playing the national team, the Puerto Ricans will meet a Bermuda Select.
Confirmation of the tour will likely please Bermuda's Director of Coaching Clyde Best who has been pressuring the BFA to find opposition for the senior squad.
Puerto Rico are in Group Five of next year's Shell/Caribbean Cup, matched with Haiti, Dominican Republic and the US Virgin Islands.
Bermuda are in Group Six with the Cayman Islands, Cuba, and Turks and Caicos Islands.
