Race results scrapped

caused organisers to scrap the results of last Saturday's junior cross country races at Daniel's Head.

Race spokesman Charlie Duffy said yesterday: "The series organisers wish to apologise to all juniors involved in last Saturday's disaster, particularly to those few who actually ran the right course.

"Scrapping the event is not fair to everyone but in the circumstances seems fair to the vast majority.'' The national junior cross country championships will now count as the fifth race of the current junior series, meaning that runners planning to qualify for trophies and certificates by running at least three of the five series races can still do so.
