Ray argues against red card with video replay

wrongdoing after he was one of three men sent off in last Friday's Premiership clash with Southampton Rangers.

Ray and Temiko Flood were both dismissed by referee George O'Brien in the latter stages of the match at Devonshire Rec after it appeared blows were exchanged.

Certainly Flood was seen to aim a haymaker in the direction of Wolves players after a dispute over a free kick escalated into violence.

But Wolves coach Dennis Brown said he believed Ray's red card, also for violent conduct, should never have been produced.

The coach has presented a video of the match to the Bermuda Football Association in the hope Ray will be able to play in tonight's Friendship Trophy game against North Village at Somerset.

"We have a couple of suspensions but one is on appeal because we feel that the decision on Mark Ray was wrong and we have video evidence with which to state our case,'' Brown said.

"We lodged an appeal today and the rest is in the hands of the BFA.'' Brown said if a player used violence in a match he would be the first to stand up and condemn him.

"My players and anyone who knows me will tell you that I do not and would not tolerate any type of retaliation whatsover. I would not fight for my player if I thought he was wrong. If he is wrong he will have to serve his time but if not. ..,'' he said.

Wolves face a race against time if they are to get the decision overturned in time for tonight's kick-off. "They said they may be able to give us some clearance in reference to him playing but if he does not play we just have to get on with the game,'' Brown said.

Without giving away his tactics, Brown said his team would be going all out for victory against the Red Devils.

"It's a cup game, it's do or die. If you win you're in, if you lose you snooze,'' he said. "It's one or the other so you have to come out with intention of giving everything and hope the result falls in your favour.'' The second Friendship tie tonight sees Devonshire Cougars and Dandy Town clash at Devonshire Rec. Both games have a 9.00 p.m. kick-off.
