The league, which features three weeks of instructional scrimmages and six weeks of games, is for players from 10 to 12 years old (small fry) and 13 and 14 (little dribblers).

Small fry games will use a smaller basketball with the goal eight-and-a-half feet high, while the basket will be regulation height for the little dribblers.

Freddie Evans, who stands tall in Bermuda hoop circles, said that the emphasis for both leagues was on speed rather than height.

Games will take place at the Whitney Institute gym on Saturdays from 6.45 p.m.

to 9.00 p.m.

Registration cost is $35.

ATHLETICS ATH Swan's Running Club is to launch a training programme called "Losing it and Gaining Fitness'' designed to help members get rid of the extra pounds gained over Christmas.
