Robbins takes up challenge
top women players led her teammates to victory in the inaugural Gillette Tour Challenge Championship.
Kelly Robbins, the third-ranked player in the LPGA, peppered her scorecard with five birdies including a crucial putt on the par three 17th at Mid Ocean Club.
That was enough to put her team -- made up of top professional golfer Nick Price and senior tour stalwart Jim Colbert -- at the top of the leader board and in receipt of a $450,000 cheque.
And while Robbins was burning up the greens, many of the estimated 3,000 spectators who packed the course under sunny skies were glad to see Colbert back on the course in his his first tournament since undergoing prostate cancer surgery in June.
Said Colbert: "This about as much fun as I've had playing golf. Why didn't anybody think of this sooner? I mean, this was terrific and if you ask any of the other players, we all like it when the different circuits are together.''
