Roberts claims snooker crown
Charleton 4-2 in their best-of-seven Bermuda Open Singles Championships last week.
Charleton, the defending champion, fell behind 3-0 after Roberts took the first three frames 62-50, 55-33 and 59-31. Charleton took the next two 64-43 and 58-41 and could have won the sixth only to surrender the frame when he went in off the black ball.
The win seeds Roberts as the A player for one of the three teams representing Bermuda in the upcoming International Snooker League Tournament at Old Colony Club May 24-31.
Nine visiting teams -- three from Canada, two from New York and one each from Wales, Scotland, England and Chicago -- will also take part.
Bermuda's teams consist of Roberts, Steve Dunleavy and Dennis Coyle; Charleton, Steve Pantry and Mike Wood; and, representing Old Colony Club, Robert Gaglio, Dave McLean and S.A. Moniz.
