Saltus lift hockey title -- again
Sports Hockey Stickwork title at National Sports Club on Monday.
With 552 points, Saltus topped Northlands Pink Team by 20 points in what proved to be the closest competition since 1991.
Bermuda High School finished third with 516 points while Northlands Blue were fourth with 450.
Northlands fans were tickled pink with their second place squad as Gianna Mitchell and Monique Evans both gave outstanding performances, dominating the tournament by scoring more points than anyone else after completing the six skills.
Third in the overall scoring race was France Stemphlet of Saltus who propelled her team to the championship.
Laura Schoenberger of Saltus placed first in the individual competition eight points ahead of Kara Madeiros, also from Saltus. Janika Roberts of Bermuda High School trailed two points back in a closely contested individual competition.
Michaelia Selvin of Northlands won the goalkeepers' competition by three points over Alexandra Lewis of Saltus. Gillian Brydon of Bermuda High School was one point behind while Northlands 'keeper Patricka Ferguson was fourth.
Next on the calendar is the annual Interschool junior hockey tournament a week from today at 1 p.m. at National Sports Club. The senior tournament will be held the following day.
