lead after just ten minutes with Pitkethly and Campbell finding the target.

Swifts got back into the game with a goal from Chrisanthi Bartley early in the second half, but Bluebirds then moved up a gear as Pitkethly, Campbell and Smith added three more.

Meanwhile, in the B League new team Swallows continued their winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Canaries, whom they now lead in the standings by two points.

Liz Osborne got Swallows' all-important goal in the first half, but the league leaders had to withstand heavy pressure towards the end.

Third-placed Bluebirds defeated Swifts 2-0, despite failing to convert a number of scoring chances in the first half. They eventually broke through with strikes from Candy-Lee Foggo and Linda Pitkethly.

In the other B match, Orioles and Cardinals drew 1-1.

Selena Bean fired Cardinals ahead in the first half only for Orioles to hit back almost immediately through Angela Ianetta. Orioles goalkeeper Heidi Lynam kept her team in the game with a series of saves.
