Show jumpers on parade
competition is set to take place today and tomorrow on local soil, starting at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. respectively.
Teams of riders from Jamaica, Antigua and Trinidad are set to compete against an Island contingent, with each country riding borrowed mounts. Four horses have kindly been loaned, and each of the team riders will ride every horse over show jumping courses.
Last year saw Bermuda compete for the first time in the regional event, ending third overall out of the six countries involved. Other countries taking part this year are Barbados and the Dominican Republic, although neither will play a role in this weekend's meet.
Chosen to represent Bermuda this weekend are 15-year-old Philip Correia and Christy Holder.
Holder travelled last year to Trinidad, Guadeloupe and Jamaica, where she turned in solid results, while Correia represented Bermuda in October, when the Island played host. Holder rides out of Windsong Stables, while Correia operates out of Inwood Stables.
Both riders have enjoyed some success this year, with Correia the champion in three classes during the Devonshire and BHPA Shows, and second twice at the BHPA and Inwood Shows.
