Racing Club finally debuted at Clearwater Beach at the weekend.

Organisers claimed the temporary circuit was "unsuitable for racers and spectators alike'' but vowed to make the best of a bad job.

Each class completed four heats during the afternoon, all of which counted towards the National Championship standings.

In Mini Bikes Paulo Silva continued to dominate but was denied a clean sweep by Joshua Tumbridge who won heat four and secured the runners-up spot on the day.

Andre Jones, flying in heat one, suffered mechanical problems which put paid to his day. The Scooter class had some exciting encounters with the hairpin immediately before the start/finish line throwing up some real do-or-die tactics.

Championship leader Mark Lightbourn swept the day but he did not have it all his own way. He was taken to the line in every heat by team-mates Ricky Perriers and Virgil Vermonde. In the final heat, Vermonde and Lightbourn crossed the finish line wheel to wheel, causing huge enjoyment for the large crowd.

Stock Modified saw points leader Dennis Wilson take a heavy fall during practice, leaving the door open for this year's most improved rider Patrick Groening to go on unchallenged.

Another much-improved newcomer, Perry DeSilva, took the runners-up spot and Kyle Pimental came home third.

The Formula class may have only had a field of two but it saw a right royal battle between Vince Belboda and Ed Daniels.

In the last heat Belboda was skittled by a backmarker and Daniels was brought down as he tried to avoid the pair. Belboda was able to remount and took the honours.

Grand Prix A also only had two riders with Leroy Trott edging Alex Dowling.

The flying firemen fought it out in Grand Prix B with Ray Masters taking the plaudits and Shannon Caisey having to settle for second. David Jones just did enough to edge Jasonne Smith for third.

The next race day is scheduled for March 11.
