That honour instead belonged to Keith R.F. Smith, who on Monday captured his first BPGA title, shooting a two-under par 66 to edge Pearman in the one-day, 18-hole event at St. George's.
Playing on his home course, Smith conquered high winds to earn the first-place cheque of $256, plus 45 points in the BPGA standings used to determine, among other things, which players represent Bermuda in World Cup qualifying play.
Pearman, head pro at Ocean View and the Island's top player, fired a 67 and earned $175 and 28 points. Keith B. Smith was third with a 68 and took home $150, plus 26 points.
Tied for fourth in the 15-man field were Cornell Bean, Eardley Jones and Derrick Douglas, each with 69.
JJ Madeiros and Norman Minors finished tied for seventh with rounds of 70, followed by Alan Wilkinson (71), Danny Johnson (73), Lloyd James and Dwayne Gibson (75), David James Sr. and Keith Wade (76) and Phillip Pitcher (83).
