Social Club Jets scored four runs in the second inning on their way to an 8-3 win over Hamilton Parish Peppers in a women's softball game on Tuesday night

The score was tied at 3-3 after the first inning but by the second Jets went in front to stay as their eight runs came off 12 hits with Tanya Darrell and Tina Lee both going two-for-four. For Peppers, who scored their three runs off eight hits, Sheila Basden went three-for-three and Rose Ann Wall two-for-three.

Suzie Clarke was the winning pitcher, with seven strikeouts while Beverly Burchall suffered the loss.

Earlier PCC blanked Eaglettes 12-0 as their runs came off 15 hits with Debra DeShields going two-for-five, including a home run and three RBI.

Deborah Rollins and Mirina Wheeler both went two-for-four for the losers.

Winning pitcher Kelly Smith had six strikeouts while Susan Young suffered the loss.

Warwick Reds scored eight runs in the fourth inning off three hits and five walks on their way to a convincing 12-2 win over North Village Angels as Angela Davis went two-for-two for the winners.

Lawanda Trott had an inside-the-park homer for the losers who were allowed just two hits by Stacy Furbert who struck out nine. Lorraine Smith was the losing pitcher.

CRICKET CRI Heron Bay captured the primary school double wicket title on Tuesday at Victor Scott School.

Their two representatives were Shannon Smith and Torrick Williams, with Smith outstanding with the bat in scoring all 71 of his team's runs against St.

David's in the final match. He also took four wickets for 22 runs during the tournament as Heron Bay won all three of their matches.

Somerset Primary, St. David's, defending champions West Pembroke and Heron Bay, represented the four zones and played a round-robin series. Somerset Primary were the runners-up, St. David's third and West Pembroke fourth.

BASKETBALL BAS A basketball slam dunk competition will be held on Saturday, June 27, at the Pembroke Community Centre (PCC) starting at 10 a.m.

Trophies will be awarded for the top three finishers and there is a $15 entry fee. The deadline for entries is June 24 and further information can be obtained from organiser Ijumo Hayward at 295-0864 or 295-1550.

The event is open to youngsters 15 years and older and Bermuda Basketball Association players are welcome.
