Somerset emerged with two out of the five trophies up for grabs last weekend when the National Stadium played host to five junior finals.

The west end club triumphed in both the Mini-Minor A Knockout final and Minor Knockout final, defeating North Village Reds and PHC respectively.

Leslie Trew, who scored twice, led the young Trojans to a 4-1 win over Village in the Mini-Minor group, while Dahni Bean and Paul Maybury added single strikes. Travis Wilkinson replied for Village.

A penalty shoot-out, however, was required to separate Somerset from PHC in the following encounter after the pair stood deadlocked at 1-1 after regulation time. Somerset finally prevailed 5-4 from the spot.

Single winners on the afternoon were Devonshire Colts Whites, St. David's and Wolves.

Colts had Kyle Jones to thank after his lone goal gave them a 1-0 victory over PHC Kids in the Lower Eight Mini-Minor Knockout final.

Another closely contested game had Milton Jones, Jr. account for the only tally for St. David's against PHC Blacks.

The night's last match-up featured Wolves and PHC in a hard-fought contest which was ultimately decided 2-1 in favour of the former after PHC's Michael Williams netted an own goal.

Earlier, Marlin Simons had put Wolves ahead only to have Tokia Russell equalise.

ON THE RUN -- A tongue-wagging PHC Kids forward attempts to get past his opposite number from St. David's during the Upper Eight Mini-Minor Knockout final at the National Stadium last weekend.
