Invitational at Coral Beach yesterday even though there were no special celebrations.

The fuse was lit during the semi-finals of the men's open doubles match featuring the unseeded Boyle brothers, Graham and Courtland, against second seeds Mark Cordeiro and Stuart Smith.

The Boyles won 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 to advance to the final but not before an incident that resulted in in tournament officials being summoned to the courts to restore order.

During one of the many key points that caused the large gallery to gasp in awe, Graham played what appeared to be a sure winner only to see the ball hit the score rack and drop out of court. Before anyone could catch their breath the score rack was shattered by one telling blow from Graham's racquet.

The incident marred an otherwise exciting match that saw the pendulum swing until the fifth game of the third and final set. That was when the unseeded brothers broke Stuart's serve and ran off four straight games for the set and match.

They will now take on the top ranked pair of Mike Curry and James Collieson in today's final. Curry and Collieson overcame a difficult second set to win over Eldon Daniels and David Lambert 6-0, 7-6.

Meanwhile, four champions were crowned yesterday.

In the men's 55 final, King Van Nostrand, the world's top ranked player in the over 60s division, took less than an hour to defeat second-seed Elmer Mangrum 6-0, 6-0.

In the ladies 50s final Joan Hassell successfully defended her title by beating fellow Briton Mary Pretty 7-5, 6-1. Hassell then teamed up with Bermuda host Gill Butterfield to beat Pretty and former Bermuda number one Debbie Harper 6-2, 6-2 to capture the ladies doubles 40s title.
