American Junior Squash Team Championships in Denver, Colorado, on the weekend.

Bolstered by Bermuda's Nick Kyme and James Stout, however, the three Caribbean teams managed to hold their own against top under-16 and under-19 players from Canada, United States and Mexico.

The Carribean Squash Association squads posted a combined record of 1-8 in the team event, the win coming when their under-16 A team beat their B team. The Caribbean also lost all their first round matches in individual play but rebounded to capture two consolation finals.

Kyme lost his first match against Adison West 9-10, 9-6, 9-1, 9-4 but defeated Mexico's Andrew Sanchez 3-1 in the first round of the consolation bracket. He then lost to another Mexican, Manaro Aguilar in the consolation semi-final, a five-set thriller that went down to 10-9 in the decider. Aguilar lost to Guyana's Regan Pollard, the Caribbean's number one under-19 player, in the final.

Stout, playing with the Caribbean B team, dropped his first round match 3-0 to Asif Mir of the US, and fell 3-0 (10-8, 10-8, 10-8) to Caribbean A player Colin Ramasra in the consolation bracket.

In team competition, Kyme's loss to Canada's Josh McDonald was noteworthy: He became the only player all weekend to take a game from the North American champion in a 9-2, 8-10, 9-1, 9-1 defeat. Kyme also lost 3-1 (0-9, 9-4, 9-4, 9-3 to American Noah Wimmer. Stout went 0-9 in his three matches, falling to Ryan Abraham, the US' Ryan Byrnes and Canada's Robert Negro.
