St. David's hang on for draw

almost paid the price as challengers Bailey's Bay had them under some pressure at Sea Breeze Oval before the champions hung on for a draw in the final of the Junior Eastern Counties on Saturday.

Scores: Bailey's Bay 116-7 declared, St. David 72-6.

St. David's made a bad start in chase of the Bay total, with their first three wicket going down with just 18 runs on the board as Chris Foggo, Kameron Fox and Rudell Pitcher were all bowled with Fox getting 11 of the first 18 runs.

Number five batsman Angelo Cannonier, later to be named player of the series, scored an important 16 not out as he and Jonathan Santucci (18) added 30 for the fifth wicket in taking the score from 31 to 61 when two wickets fell without any addition to the score.

Jahmiko Marshall was the top bowler for Bailey's Bay with three for 19 from 19 overs while Clevon Hill claimed two for 10 from 10 overs.

Earlier C.Hollis led the Bay batting with 26 not out after Bay also had a bad start, losing their first two wickets with just two runs on the board.

C.Durham scored an important 25 in the middle order after number three bat Desmond Crockwell, the captain, hit 14. Marshall (13) and E.Trott (eight not out) then took Bay towards their declaration total.

Rudell Pitcher was the top bowler for St. David's with three for 32 from 18 overs while Gregon Minors took two for 18. Kameron Fox had one for 19 from 13 overs.
