St. George's 260-9

Allrounder Sammy Robinson smashed 114 off 12 fours and five sixes before retiring as St. George's held onto the Colts Cup Match trophy with a resounding 137-run win over Somerset at Wellington Oval.

Somerset had St. George's in some early trouble with Desmond Crockwell, Travis Smith and Bennett Phipps all going with just 21 runs on the board. Robinson and Rudell Pitcher turned things around with a fourth wicket stand of 68 with Pitcher scoring 27. Robinson and Kameron Fox (27) put on 70 for the seventh wicket.

Shawn Wade was the pick of the eight Somerset bowlers, claiming five for 53 from 14 overs.

In their chase for the runs, Somerset lost their first wicket on five and it was an uphill battle after that as the first seven wickets went down for just 66 before B.Spencer (33) and S.Hollis (14) added 46 for the eighth wicket to bring up the 100.

Kameron Fox claimed four for 34 and Travis Smith three for 37 to lead the St.

George's bowling.

SAILING SLG Stevie Dickinson was in fine form during comet racing hosted by the West End Sailboat Club on Sunday.

Dickinson, with crew Scott Fox, won the three-race series with two firsts and a second to finish ahead of Rudy Bailey and crew Sinclair Simons (second, third and first).

Third was Gladwin Lambert and crew Lorenzo Lambert.

SOCCER SOC The Kenny Thompson Seven-A-Side tournament has reached the semi-final stage.

Surviving an intense week and reaching the final four were Devonshire Colts, Frontline, Revelations and Crossroad Warriors.

Crossroads ensured a new champion for 1996 as they handed last year's winners, Curve International, their walking papers following a penalty shootout. The pair were deadlocked 2-2 after regulation, as Dano Outerbridge tallied twice for Crossroads.

Team Chucky defeated Devonshire Colts 4-3 as Mark Ray had two goals, while Sekai Waldron and Shannon Burgess had one each. Lamont Stone and Damon Francis scored for Team Chucky.

In & Out were eliminated by Frontline 1-0 while Revelations needed the penalty route to extinguish Quality Street.

A meeting for all soccer players interested in playing for Devonshire Recreation Club during the upcoming season will be held today, starting at 6 p.m.
