Nearly all of the Island's top riders have already signed up, including last year's winner, Stephan Carpentier.

Carpentier looks to be in good form following a fourth-place finish in last weekend's season opener on the former St. David's baselands. But the man to watch will undoubtedly be Irishman Steve Sterritt, who broke away at the halfway point of last week's race to record a clear victory.

Others to watch will be veterans Jason Krupp, Mike Lee, Damion Wilson, making his first appearance of the year, and Sinclair Packwood, who has made no secret of his intentions to win both the Sprint Championship and the Criterium.

Kris Hedges, although a Junior One rider, competes on equal terms with the top seniors and has the ability to surprise if the other riders slip up.

Tomorrow's action gets underway at 12.30 p.m.

Among the activities are a 15-minute Citizen's Ride, followed by races for under 7-year-olds. The IBC Sprint Championships will then see cyclists competing for the title of King of Speed over a 400-metre course. Wilson defends his title Packwood is keen to regain his reputation as the fastest man on two wheels.

The sprints will be followed by a criterium for veterans, ladies, juniors and novices. Cyclists will start from the Flagpole, travel east on Front Street to Court Street, up to Reid Street, left onto Queen Street and down to Front Street for 45 minutes plus a lap.

The final race of the day will see Category Two and Three riders travel the same course for one hour plus a lap.
