Swan's putting woes continue
leaderboard at the $130,000 Jamaican Open heading into today's final round at the Wyndham Rose Hall Resort Golf Club.
After carding a respectable one-over-par 73 on Thursday, which enabled him to make the cut with 50 other pros, Swan incurred further putting woes yesterday and ballooned to a 76 for a three-round total of 227 -- 11 over.
Two over following the first nine holes, which included six pars, one birdie, a bogey and a double-bogey, Swan said he felt pretty good heading for the second half and proceeded to birdie the first hole.
However, as his putts continually came up short, despite good approach shots, so rose his total and in the end four over was all he could muster.
"I created the opportunities, but didn't capitalise on them,'' said Swan.
"My course management has been good, my long game has been okay ... I just need to get the ball in the hole.
"Today, I needed to be aggressive to make a move. I didn't lose too much ground, but with an even par or a little under round I would have made up some.'' Swan trails leader Tom Harding of the United States by 15 strokes. Harding, with scores of 73, 69 and 70, assumed the leadership from Canadian John Lamar, who stumbled yesterday.
Following the Open, Swan heads to Florida for a stop on the North Florida Winter Tour, which will serve as final preparation for next month's World Cup.
