Swinging Doors, second place finishers in each of the past two seasons, completed an unbeaten season in the Bermuda International Pool League last
put the icing on it by beating second-place Vasco 196-170 in the season finale.
On the line during the final matches of the season were the top three individual placings (players who are guaranteed a spot on the national team) and the remainder of the top ten (players eligible for selection).
Brian Walker, Trevor Mouchette and Gary Bascome are the top three while Andre Burgess and Gary Skinner just missed eligibility. Others in the top ten are Wayne Adams, Mike Zimmerman, Manuel Furtado and Tony Roverdo, the first time in league history that a complete team has made the top eight.
SOFTBALL SOF The Bermuda Amateur Softball Association will host Fontbonne Academy this weekend for four games at Bernard Park.
The Ducks are an NCAA Division III women's team from Boston and all players are under 19. Local opposition will include the BSSF 1996 senior school champions Berkeley, a BSSF All-Star Select and a Bermuda under-19 Select team.
Local players will include the likes of Jameila Johnson, Tiffany Swan, Reken Pearman and Sophia Burch. Double-headers are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday starting at 6 and 7.30 p.m.
