The Primary Schools Track and Field Zone Meets, which act as heats for the finals will take place today and tomorrow.
All western schools -- Heron Bay, Port Royal, Southampton Glebe, Cedar Grove, West End and Somerset Primary -- compete today at Somerset Primary while the east and central districts go at it tomorrow at the St. George's Secondary School field and Saltus Grammar respectively.
The starting time for these zone meets is 10 a.m. and the top two finishers from each event qualify for the finals at the National Stadium on Tuesday, May 5.
The following are the champion boys and girls from the recently completed Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships: Under 13 Boys: Garen Wilkinson (Berkeley Institute) 800, 1,500, 3,000 - first.
Under 13 Girls: Jarita Dill (Bermuda High School) Long Jump, 400 (new record), 800 -- first.
Under 15 Boys: Rohan Simons (Warwick Secondary) 3,000, 1,500, High Jump (new record) -first.
Under 15 Girls: Monique HUnt (Warwick Academy) Long Jump, 100, 200 -- first.
Over 15 Boys: Sharif Taylor (Berkeley Institute) 400, 800, 3,000 - first.
Over 15 Girls: (tie) Shequita Parsons (Berkeley Institute) 100, 400 - first; 200 - second; Keena Trott (Berkeley Institute) Long Jump, 200 - first; 100 - second.
Swan's Running Club will hold a meeting at the Department of Youth, Sport and Recreation tonight at 7.00.
SOFTBALL SOF Next week sees the Secondary Schools Softball Tournament taking place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The Junior Girls will swing about on Wednesday followed by the Senior Girls Thursday and finally the boys on Friday.

CHESS CHS In second-round action in the Marks Double Elimination tournament, Kingfishers lost to the Islanders and are now eliminated from the main flight.
Independents were beaten by Bishops and in tonight's line-up will play the Islanders.
Main interest will focus on board one where undefeated Nick Faulks plays Harry Kast who in his previous encounter secured a draw. Kast has the advantage of playing white and will be looking to be the first player to beat Faulks.
Both teams will be going for a win as they have each lost one match and the loser will be relegated to the consolation final against Kingfishers.
Meanwhile, unbeaten Bishops will have a bye awaiting the outcome of the Islanders/Independents match.
