Three of Bermuda's top female golfers will tee off today (Thursday) in the first round of the World Amateur Team Championships in the Philippines.
Kim Marshall, who left her Wake Forest University in North Carolina earlier this week, will join up with Pat Morgan and Judithanne Outerbridge for the 72-hole tournament at the St.Elena Golf Club just outside Manila.
Two out of three scores will count daily in the championship, which has attracted amateurs from more than 50 countries.
Next Thursday, the men begin their 72-hole event on the Legends and Masters courses at the nearby Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club.
Bermuda's quartet, Henry Ascento, Bill Pitt, Tim Carr and Hav Trott, have already left.
TRIATHLON TRI Shona Palmer and Neil de Ste Croix, reigning Bermuda triathlon champions, had to settle for second and third place respectively at the Cayman National Triathlon Championships on the weekend.
Eighty-nine competitors -- 64 of them men -- took part in a torrential rainstorm.
De Ste Croix was 11th in the swim but moved into second place during the cycling event before falling back to third after the run. His time was two hours, six minutes and 57 seconds, 20 seconds behind hometown hope Tony Keely.
The winner for the third straight year was Texan Larry Lancaster, who was clocked in 2:04:27.
Palmer was second among the women, finishing in 2:23:10, well back of winner Carol Retter (2:20:39). Palmer's husband, Tim, was 41st among the men, followed by Brian Peck in 44th.

Green is a US level four national coach and International Archery Federation (FITA) judge while Allen has reached level three as a US national coach.
The pair have brought with them bows, arm guards and 18 dozen arrows which have been donated to the National Archery Association of Bermuda by FITA, the sport's governing body.
