Three see red as Wolves punish Parish

Four goals, six bookings, three red cards and a penalty miss were the highlights of this battle between bitter rivals Wolves and Hamilton Parish at Devonshire Rec., which left Parish anchored at the bottom of the First Division.

It was a pretty uneventful first half, in comparison to the second, as Parish more than held their own and deserved to be leading after a promising start.

But it all fell apart for them in the second half as they trailed 2-1 within minutes of the restart and were soon reduced to nine men after Chris Caisey and Leon Raynor were sent off along with Keemo Smith of Wolves.

Parish, who drew their last two outings against Dandy Town and Somerset, had an extra spring in their step at the start of this match. And better finishing would have seen them leading 2-0 in the first 10 minutes.

Parish's first chance came after just three minutes when Irving Burgess extended a leg to beat the advancing Hewvonnie Brown to a pass inside the box from Kuma Smith but lifted the ball over the bar. Minutes later a series of short passes around the edge of the box opened the Wolves defence for Sean Dill to drive a low shot across goal and just past the far post.

Gradually Wolves came more into the match with Peter Sampson shooting past the post in a crowded box following a corner on the right by Tori Davis.

Referee Anthony Mouchette made three bookings in the first half, Keemo Smith of Wolves and Parish's Caisey and Kuma Smith.

It turned out to be an even more eventful second half, starting in the 48th minute when Nakia Smith opened the scoring for Wolves with a lob over 'keeper Burgess after a short pass from Weldon on the edge of the box had put him clear.

Two goalkeeping errors in less than a minute saw Parish equalise and then fall behind 2-1 as the game picked up. Alvin Baker netted for Parish in the 51st minute directly from a free kick deep on the right which went over Brown's head at the near post.

Within a minute Wolves scored a similar goal when Keemo Smith's cross from deep on the right found the far top corner with Burgess beaten.

Brown made a good diving save to a low Kuma Smith shot to redeem himself. Then the red cards came out as tempers boiled over between last year's two promotion teams.

Veteran defender Caisey was sent off for a bad foul near the teams' benches which earned him his second caution. He didn't go quietly and had to be restrained by team members.

Two more followed in the 74th minute when Raynor and Keemo Smith were both ejected for a scuffle after Smith first retaliated and hit Raynor after being fouled. Both players had already been booked, Raynor just five minutes earlier. His team-mate, Sean Dill, was cautioned for leaving the field without permission during that incident as tempers flared.

When play settled back down, Wolves missed from the penalty spot as Nakia Smith's weak spot kick was saved by Burgess to his left. It was awarded for a handball on Tajmal Webb.

However, a minute later Wolves did find the net when Weldon scored with a low shot into the far bottom corner.

Also booked in the second half were Irving Burgess, Johnny Eve of Wolves and Webb of Parish, for a last minute foul.
