But both were fully extended and taken into play-offs with Kitson brushing aside Pat O'Malley of the United States and Vallis beating American Austin Eaton.

This year's field features a majority of players from overseas, primarily the US. But included in the full list of 128 players are defending junior champion Blake Marshall of Bermuda and senior holder Dick Stimets.
