Town and Vasco in cup cracker
quarter-finals of the FA Cup which will be played on January 24.
"I won't predict anything at this stage, but we will be confident playing the champions,'' said team spokesman Lloyd Christopher last night.
"As far as we're concerned they're just another team that we have to play. We certainly don't intend to lose. We are in first place in the league right now and playing well, we fear noybody.'' The Town-Vasco tie was the big match-up when yesterday's draw was made at the offices of Bermuda Football Association.
The full draw is: Vasco v Dandy Town, BAA; Devonshire Colts v Devonshire Cougars, White Hill; Somerset Trojans v Boulevard, Somerset; North Village v Social Club, Bernard Park. All games start at 2.30.
Town are the current First Division leaders but Vasco, also the reigning league champions, are just one point behind. Town, despite having striker Darron Simons sent off, routed St. George's All-Stars 7-0 in the third round at Wellington Oval on Sunday while Vasco struggled to a 2-0 triumph over BAA Wanderers.
Second Division giant-killers Social Club, the only non-First Division survivors, face a formidable challenge against North Village.
Social Club pulled off the season's biggest upset so far, beating Southampton Rangers 3-2 at Southampton Oval -- a result that should earn the respect of Village.
The two remaining fixtures should produce close results with Somerset and Devonshire Colts slightly favoured over Boulevard and Cougars.
