Town, Blazers meet in feature clash
with Devonshire Colts, take on Boulevard in tomorrow's top First Division match at St. John's field.
Both teams had wins on the opening day of the league programme last Sunday, Town upsetting league champions Somerset and Boulevard making it three straight wins with a 3-1 triumph over Colts.
Neither Town nor Boulevard were particularly impressive on Thursday night but, while Boulevard's point was enough to get them through to the semifinals, Town will rely on North Village beating Colts if they are to get to the next stage of the Martonmere Cup.
Boulevard will be missing winger Stevie Wade for the next three games and he may even face disciplinary action from the BFA for his conduct after being sent off late in the first half of Thursday's match against Somerset.
Maurice Smith or Vernon Symonds will likely come in to replace Wade in the front line, though another option could be to bring either Amon Brown or Shivaughn Smith into midfield and push Neil Robinson into a more attacking role.
North Village should get their second straight league win when they travel to St. David's to meet a side who conceded five goals to Vasco in their opening match.
Village have sent out early indications that they intend to be amongst the honours this season while St. David's, with a number of experienced players having departed, are already looking like relegation candidates.
Village won last year's two matches 3-0 at St. David's and 3-1 at Bernard Park and unless the St. David's defence plays better than they did last weekend they could be on the receiving end of another thrashing.
PHC have still not been able to find first gear in their two matches so far when they lost to Boulevard in the Martonmere Cup and Village in the league.
Tomorrow, they are home for the first time against a St. George's team who will also be looking to improve on their last outing when they drew with newly-promoted Southampton Rangers.
Rangers are at home to the Trojans in another interesting match as both teams seek their first goals in the league. Devonshire Colts take on Vasco at Frog Lane in the other match, as they go in search of their first win of the season.
The top match in the Second Division tomorrow will be at Wellington Oval where Hamilton Parish take on Devonshire Cougars. Both teams were winners last weekend, though Cougars' triumph was marred by the sending-off of four players, which will deplete their squad for this encounter.
Wolves, who were missing four players last weekend because they did not have player registration cards, should have sorted out that problem in time for their trip to White Hill field for their match with Port Royal.
Wolves suffered a shock 4-0 loss at the hands of BAA last weekend while Port Royal nearly blew a four-goal lead against Social Club in their opening encounter and hung on to win 4-3.
BAA are at home to Somerset Eagles tomorrow while the other match sees Paget, who initially withdrew from the league, playing their first match of the season at home to Social Club at Southampton Oval.
The FIFA/Coca-Cola World Development Coaching Course, which the Bermuda Football Association is hosting at Stonington College, will begin on Monday with the opening ceremony starting at 9 a.m.
The course will run from Monday to Saturday and will deal with four aspects of soccer; administration, coaching, refereeing and sports medicine. In total there will be a maximum 80 participants -- 25 each in coaching and refereeing and 15 each in sports medicine and administration.
AIRBORNE -- Somerset Trojans' Duval Binns, left, and Pernell Douglas of Dandy Town clash in last weekend's action. Town won the league season opener 1-0 and tomorrow entertain the island's hottest team to date, Boulevard.
