Trojans chaning faces ahead of big clash at town

that which defeated Dandy Town in the semifinals of the Martonmere Cup when the two sides hook up again tomorrow at St. John's field as league action returns to the fore.

Coach Larry Hunt's hand has been forced to dig into the junior ranks because of the unavailability of several starters.

Striker Richard Scott and midfielder Shannon Morrisey are both off the Island while Jerry Webb is serving out a three-match suspension. In addition veteran Kelly Simmons, believed to be unhappy with the 4-4-2 formation installed by Hunt, has apparently decided to pack it in for the year after only five matches.

Another question mark is midfield dynamo Reggie Tucker who has been nursing a knee injury.

Derek Robinson is likely to replace Scott up front alongside Rodney Bascome and a trio of youngsters including Shawn Riley, Steval Arorash and Kwame Tucker may be called upon to form a link in midfield with Randy Simmons.

"We're bringing in younger players but we hope to get the same result as the other night although I would be satisfied with a point,'' said Hunt. "These guys will be trying to impress me and want to stay in the side.'' Meanwhile, Town, currently second on three points will also make a few adjustments according to coach Robert Calderon.

"We'll see some changes...maybe we'll change from the 4-4-3 we used before to a 4-4-2 (formation), but we'll modify it as we see fit,'' said Calderon. "We know what didn't work having played them already and we're trying to slot people into different areas.'' Calderon admitted that the blending process of new players has been slower than expected but said that he is looking at his team's performance over the long haul that is the league season.

"There is no revenge (factor from the Martonmere loss), we just want to win the game.

"We're making sure the league programme takes precedence especially with the loss of players (to the national squad).'' Another interesting clash has defending champions PHC travelling to Wellington Oval to take on St. George's.

The east-enders have held their own thus far in two league games having drawn against North Village and were unlucky to come out on the short end against Somerset.

As evidenced by their failure to score in either match there are some problems up front that need rectifying.

"In the first couple of games we haven't been able to create much,'' coach Greg (Brutus) Foggo said of his young team. "Our front-runners need to get more confidence, they already have the ability.'' Aside from playing at home St. George's also catch a depleted Zebras outfit coming off unimpressive performances against St. David's and Devonshire Colts.

They lost to the former but managed to get by the latter and earn a berth in the Martonmere Cup final.

Still PHC must be favoured to earn their first league win of the season and inch their way out of the lower depths, a position they undoubtedly are not familiar with.

Fellow newcomers St. David's are at home to Devonshire Colts, who aside from the PHC match, have proven quite formidable with their array of young talent.

In other matches, Hotels tackle Boulevard at Southampton Oval and North Village entertain cellar dwellers Hamilton Parish.

Vasco should keep their perfect record in Second Division play intact as they travel to face Port Royal.

A tougher battle awaits Devonshire Cougars, currently second on goal difference. They entertain Southampton Rangers who needed extra time to get by commercial side Fire Services in midweek.

Remaining games have Social Club at home against Paget, Wolves taking on BAA and Prospect making the trek west to take on Somerset Eagles.

It has been recently announced that three of the Bermuda Football Association's (BFA) executive officers have been appointed to serve on CONCACAF committees.

BFA president Charlie Marshall, honorary vice-president Gerard Bean and administrative assistant Joe L. Brown have all been tagged to assist in the region through April 1994.

Marshall will has been appointed to the Appeals Committee, Bean will act as the deputy chairman of the Appeals Commision and Brown will sit on both the Ad Hoc Commission and the Panel-Administrative Matters Commision.
