Division -- his sixth -- in his first season back with Spinning Wheel Raiders.

Minors, who played only half of the opening game of last season with BAA Wanderers before deciding the move wasn't a good one, felt more at home at Spinning Wheel this season where he enjoyed his most productive campaign so far, scoring 27 goals in 21 games to take his career total in the Commercial Division to 142 from 124 games.

Had he been taking the penalties for Spinning Wheel, Minors feels he would have reached the 30-goal mark which still eludes him. "We had about eight penalties and Johnny Nusum took them all, so it could have been 30,'' said Minors.

"I had a good season as far as scoring was concerned, but as for the team, we were terrible. We finished fifth and were knocked out of the Knockout Cup by Devonshire Colts All-Stars.'' Minors won his first scoring title with Forties in 1988-89 when he scored 26 in as many games. After a two-year absence while playing for Warwick in the Second and then First Divisions, he returned to Commercial action in 1991-92 with Spinning Wheel and netted 22 times in 18 outings.

Minors spent the next two years with Robin Hood, scoring 24 times in 1992-93 and 26 in 1993-94 to take his tally in four seasons to 98.

The 100 came up in 1994-95 when he returned to Spinning Wheel, finding the net 17 times, although the title of top scorer went to Troy Berkeley of Island Rangers who scored 25 goals. This season Berkeley hit 18 as Minors again won the race with Craig Dixon of Mariners second on 21.

Now the 37-year-old veteran has his sights on another target -- 200 goals before he retires.

"I want to reach 200 but that's still a couple of more years down the road,'' added Minors, who is still to win a league title with any of his clubs.

Minors scored three hat-tricks during the year but only finished a winner in the match with KPMG which Wheel won 4-1. His hat-trick against BAA's Second Division team in the FA Cup was in vain as the team went down 4-3 while he also scored three times against Wanderers in a 6-4 loss.

DES MINORS -- 27 goals in 21 appearances for Spinning Wheel Raiders this season.
