Wanderers hold edge in title race
with champions BAA Wanderers, Lobster Pot and Robin Hood all winning on Saturday.
With just two matches remaining, Wanderers are closing in on another title after their 5-3 win over Spinning Wheel kept them two points in front of Lobster Pot and three ahead of Robin Hood.
Thomas Gribbon continued his good scoring form with two goals for the Wanderers while Wayne DeSilva, Arthur Reilly and veteran Frankie Brewster all netted one apiece. Des Minors scored a hat-trick for bottom team Spinning Wheel.
Lobster Pot edged by North Village Rams 2-1 with Niall McArthur and Tim Brown scoring for the winners and Kenny Thompson for the Rams.
A goal in each half kept Robin Hood's slim hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Fire Service. Donnie Smith and Andy Robinson were their scorers.
MR Onions picked up three vital points in their fight against relegation with a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Ireland Rangers who led 2-0 on goals in the 60th and 67th minutes by Roger Williams and Sean Symonds.
John Beck, James Bohan and Gary Wilson replied in the 74th, 77th and 81st minutes to clinch an exciting win for Onions who remain second from bottom but are now just a point behind Rams and St. George's All-Stars.
The east enders were edged 4-3 by Mariners with Michael Bean scoring a hat-trick for Mariners and C.Lopes getting the other. Sinclair Smith netted twice for St. George's while there was also an own goal.
In Group B, leaders Forties had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Devonshire Lions. Mike Williams scored for Forties and Ernest McCallan for Lions.
Prison Officers hammered Bermuda Pest Control 7-2 with Millard Rawlins, Robert Coddington and Denton Leader all scoring twice and Gregory Simons getting the other. E.Edness and A.Francis replied for Pest Control.
Exiles also put seven goals past their opponents, beating Belco 7-1 as Craig Tyrrell scored a hat-trick, Antoine Cannonier two and Blane Tucker and Alan Johnson one each. Gerald Sims replied for Belco. Devonshire All-Stars were big winners too, thrashing bottom team Wolves Pack 6-1 as Michael Looby and Roderick Cox both scored twice and Larry Benjamin and Richard Jones one apiece. Vince Minors replied for Wolves.
