Wellington Oval will host the first final of the new soccer season with the climax of the Martonmere Cup scheduled there on November 11.
With the National Stadium closed for resurfacing, the final's venue will switch to a club ground, as the top six teams from last season battle for the silverware.
The change in the scheduling for the group matches will see just one match held on each of the seven dates instead of double-headers. Action begins on Saturday night at BAA field where North Village and Dandy Town from Group B play in the opening match at 8 p.m.
Holders Boulevard open their defence against Southampton Rangers next Wednesday at Devonshire Recreation Club.
Also in Group A are Vasco while Devonshire Colts will join Town and Village in Group B.
The only double-header will be on September 27 when Southampton Rangers play Vasco and Dandy Town meet Devonshire Colts at Bernard Park.
The semi-finals will be held on October 13 and 27 at Somerset Cricket Club and BAA field respectively.
The Bermuda Football Association has announced that monies taken from Sunday's Charity Cup soccer match will be shared by two local charities; PALS and Meals on Wheels.
Attending the match were representatives from the organisations, Ann Smith Gordon and Margaret Tricker of PALS and Rupert Scotland of Meals on Wheels.
CRICKET CRI Harris Bay defeated Somerset in the annual Old Boys charity game at Somerset Cricket Club on Thursday by 61 runs to retain the cup. Scores: Harris Bay 145, Somerset 84.
Harris Bay lost Dennis Wainwright on the first ball of the game, caught off the bowling of Eugene Woods. But they were later helped to a respectable total thanks to fine knocks from the other opener, Maxwell Musson, who slammed 35, and Lionel Darrell who hit 35 not out.
Charles Fubler led the Somerset bowlers with four for 36 off 14.4 overs. Kevin Saunders had three for 25 off nine overs.
Somerset lost both openers for just nine runs. But even though Mel Roberts (22) and Milton Pringle (22) added stability by adding 54 for the third wicket, they failed to reach the century mark.
Of the remaining batsman just skipper George Wade reached double figures, scoring 16 not out.
Sinclair Isaac did the bowling damage with six for 37 off 8.2 overs while Merkell Smith had two for five off seven overs, and Musson two for 24 off six overs.
DARTS DRT The Bermuda Dart Association has launched a drive to attract more young players to the sport.
On Sunday, September 20, the association will hold a youth clinic/fun day at BAA clubhouse from 3-7 p.m.
The event will be for youngsters aged from 11 to 18. Parents and new adult players are also welcome. During the clinic there will be an exhibition along with videos, tuition and instruction. The youngsters will also meet the national team players.
Admission is free and prizes will also be presented.
