Grand Prix after failing a post-race scrutineering.

White crossed the line ahead of John Carreiro Jnr. in the Shifter A Class at Sunday's event on Front Street, but his celebrations were cut short when his machine was inspected.

John Morley, race director of the Bermuda Kart Club event, said yesterday: "After the race we always check the go-karts. They have to weigh in on the scales and make sure they go through a tech inspection and he failed the tech inspection afterwards.'' Morley revealed there was a problem with White's engine, but said he was unable to comment further.

Carriero Jnr. was promoted to first as a result of the decision and all the remaining drivers moved up one position.

Morley said the inspections were part and parcel of racing and no-one was exempt.
