Wolves and Town in cup showdown

Wolves have been drawn against tough Premier Division opponents Dandy Town in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

In other games, Devonshire Cougars face champions North Village, Southampton Rangers meet Devonshire Colts and PHC play Social Club, the only surviving First Division club from Sunday's second round.

Wolves and Town will clash at Devonshire Rec. on Thursday, January 25 in a 7.00 p.m. kick-off while the second game at that ground will feature Cougars against Village.

The other double-header is at Somerset on Tuesday, January 23, with Rangers meeting Colts at 7.00 p.m. and PHC playing YMSC in the nightcap.

Wolves coach Dennis Brown said he wasn't concerned by the draw, pointing out that all teams in the quarter-finals would be tough to beat.

But he admitted there was an incentive to beat Town in that the St. John's Road club were the only team Wolves had failed to conquer since returning to first flight soccer.

"We didn't plan to avoid anybody,'' said Brown. "At this stage everybody knows that they have to play against the top teams and we are now in position where we have to prepare for whatever challenge lies ahead.

"Town are probably the only team we haven't beaten in the Premier Division, so our players will have to pull out all of the stops and create another first for our club.

"They beat us 1-0 in the Martonmere Cup and drew 1-1 with us in the league, so there is no doubt that we are competitive against each other and this coming clash will be a very interesting one for us all.'' The women's FA Cup draw for the next round sees PHC Girls taking on Wolves Girls and Rude Girls playing Royals on a date and at venues still to be announced by the BFA.
