Wolves shoot for historic cup victory

to face for the third time this season as the former's Wolves side try to wrest the Martonmere Trophy from the grip of Trott's Dandy Town.

If they can win tomorrow afternoon's contest at St David's, Wolves will be entering new territory, claiming the first major trophy in their history.

Town, though, will be looking to keep a firm hold on the cup they won last year with a somewhat fortunate 2-1 win over Devonshire Colts. The scorers that day were Reggie Tucker and Dano Outerbridge, who has since moved on to PHC.

However, with neither side looking in particularly good form going into this final, it is hard to pick a winner.

Town have slipped alarmingly in the Premier Division recently, picking up just one point in four games -- that ironically in a 3-3 draw with tomorrow's opponents. Their only victories have come against Vasco in the Martonmere Cup semi-finals and in a 2-0 win over St George's in the first round of the FA Cup.

Wolves' lack of consistency, meanwhile, has irritated boss Brown, who has stated that no player is a certainty to make the team. They have won only one of their last four games -- that a 5-0 pounding of Premier League basement boys St David's.

Both teams were unimpressive at the weekend, Town slipping up to allow Southampton Rangers their first win of the season, while Wolves had a dull goalless draw against North Village, who they beat in the Martonmere semi-finals.

Brown refuses to get too carried away with the Devonshire club's first foray into a final since they lost as a Second Division team against Boulevard in 1997's FA Cup.

He said: "I have told the players they haven't arrived yet because they haven't won anything. Yes, they are in the Martonmere final but they haven't done anything to earn respect.

"One game we'll look really good and make the right decisions and the next game we'll not be concentrating when I think we should be. I'm not afraid to drop guys and no one should be getting complacent.'' The game starts at 2.30 p.m.
