Young athletes impress at US meet
brought back a total of 40 medals following their recent trip to the Needham Youth Classic track meet in Needham, Massachusetts.
The meet saw Bermuda's athletes grab a total of eight gold medals, two of them in the hurdle events. There were also 16 silver medals and 16 bronze for a total haul of 40 while numerous neck ribbons were earned by the young Bermudians for fourth, fifth and sixth places.
The most outstanding performances came from 13-year-old Kemar Curtis who broke three meet records and established new marks in two other events, the 100m hurdles in 15.78 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 18-feet, 41 -inches.
Curtis also broke the 100 metres record when he placed second in a time of 12.34.
Also outstanding were Kondwani Williams, aged 14, who finished the 10-event decathlon in second place and 10-year-old Andrea Jackson who placed third in the seven-event heptathlon. The pair also competed in other events.
