Football Association (BFA) presidential election has been granted its first wish.

However, whether the unbottled genie affords the group another -- and perhaps the ultimate -- remains to be seen.

BFA president Neville Tyrrell yesterday confirmed that he had received a letter from the group of affiliates requesting a Special Meeting of the executive, and noted that he was more than willing to set a date for official discussion.

Although unconfirmed, it is known that the major point of concern regards the July 24 AGM, where honourary life vice-president Eugene Blakeney presided over the meeting, in apparent contravention of constitutional law which stipulates that the elected vice-president assume the chairmanship.

"I see no reason why not (hold a meeting),'' said Tyrrell, who won the aforementioned election by a 13-12 count, with Blakeney casting the deciding ballot. "They've asked for a meeting, yes.'' Tyrrell said: "I had no problems with the (AGM). The meeting was run and I had no problems with it -- I still have no problems with the outcome of the meeting.'' However, the affiliate group -- most of whom backed Mark Trott for the presidency -- apparently do, and had hosted several meetings among themselves before arriving at consensus and deciding to petition for discussions with the current executive.

No date has as yet been set down for the Special Meeting.
