Bank backs Int. Race Weekend with $25,000
Butterfield Bank will donate $25,000 to Bermuda Track and Field Association (BTFA) as title sponsors for January's Marathon and Half-Marathon.
Connected to International Race Weekend since its inception more than 25 years ago, the bank will sponsor both of the weekend's long distance events (26.2 miles and 13.1 miles).
The races will run simultaneously on Sunday, January 18.
Butterfield Bank president and CEO Alan Thompson said he was excited about getting back into the race weekend, noting that the bank had always been devoted to the annual racing events.
"The bank is proud to once again lend our support and sponsorship to the Bermuda Track and Field Association," said Thompson. "The bank has been a sponsor of the Bermuda International Race Weekend from its early years. We are pleased to be involved once again."
Clarence Smith, president of the BTFA, added: "I am excited that Butterfield Bank has chosen to renew its relationship with the BTFA as title sponsors of the Butterfield Bank International Marathon and Half-Marathon.
"Butterfield Bank has a very well-known history of supporting local causes and the Bermuda International Race Weekend in particular."
