Basketball team tops in Toronto tournament
A Bermuda basketball select team won the Toronto Basketball Association's (TBA) Summer Tournament over the weekend, winning all four of their games.
Led by Chris Crumpler, who was voted tournament MVP in the Senior Division, the Bermuda team swept aside all opponents.
They defeated the TBA Mustangs 78-41 in their first game with Crumpler scoring 18 points and Jason Lowe adding 12.
They then pushed aside FOTT 59-48 and New Generation 82-44 with Crumpler again the top scorer in both matches.
In their final outing, Bermuda beat Hopes Are High 66-56 as Crumpler hitting 20 points and Dean Jones chipping in with 12.
The tournament committee selected Chris Crumpler as MVP due to his "basketball IQ, hustle, team spirit and pleasing personality".
Second place in the event went to New Generation, who had a record of three wins and one loss, while third place went to Hopes are High who finished with two wins andh two losses.
The TBA have now extended an invitation to Bermuda to participate in the 2009 Summer Classic, with a women's team also invited to attend.
