Beach, Bean will have final say in title race
There is an old saying: "The cream always rises to the top" and that is exactly what Ralph Bean and Raymond Beach are doing.
With both of these strikers having been off to a relatively slow start in the first half of the season by their own high standards, they have come out firing on all cylinders in the second half when it counts the most.
With the league title up for grabs and being so close you can bet your boots that the league will be decided between these two strikers.
Both are prolific scorers and the evidence is right there to support this statement. Over the past decade they have basically dominated football in the scoring charts. Just look back at the records of North Village for whom Ralph Jr. plays and Devonshire Cougars for whom Raymond Beach played before joining Dandy Town, and you will see that it has been "silver city" for the two clubs with respect to domestic trophies.
Raymond Beach, better known as "Packy", is an aggressive, hard working, goalscoring machine. He reminds me of my favourite present day player Wayne Rooney of Manchester United. His constant movement, clever finishing and keen eye for reading the game causes defences enormous problems.
Ralph Bean Jr., better known, as "JR" is a hard working, slippery, silky smooth type of forward who can turn something out of nothing. He has the ability to play a variety of positions but at Village he is asked to lead from the front and that he has done for the past decade, scoring an abundance of goals and winning an abundance of trophies.
JR reminds me of Van Persie of Arsenal, always moving, making devastating runs and causing defences constant trouble.
Folks, the title race may be long from over but since January North Village and Dandy Town have stepped their game up and thrown down the challenge to the other teams to 'catch us if you can'.
Dandy Town in my eyes have the upper hand because they have the easier schedule left. With only PHC and Village to play out of the top teams, they should cruise through the rest of their schedule against the bottom teams.
Village, on the other hand, have played both the lower teams and have a mountain to climb if they are going to steal the title from Town. They will have to beat Town in order to have any realistic chance and personally I don't see that happening.
Did I just say that?
With me being a Village fan, it is difficult to say those words but realistically I do not foresee any team stopping Dandy Town. The goalscoring options that they have in their team makes them a major threat to all.
So as we take a look at what the deciding factor could be in the title race it seems to boil down to two things. One of those is defence. North Village have a stingy defence that has given up very few goals this season. This will slow Dandy Town's attacking game as they will have to work extremely hard to break Village's defence. Whereby, if Dandy Town are to falter in their quest for the title it will be because they have a problem leaking goals.
The second thing that will decide the title race is PHC. They are the dark horses that nobody is talking about. Kyle Lightbourne has his well-oiled machine of a team just quietly going about their business. With their past track record, PHC could play spoilers to both Village and Town.
PHC are a team with a history of winning trophies, therefore when it comes to crunch time they often find a way to win.
With Village and Town both having to play PHC anything is possible. Those games in particular will be critical and most likely will play a major part in the title race.
When it's all said and done, Raymond Beach and Ralph Bean Jr are going to have the final say. Prolific goalscorers, who are accustomed to dominating and scoring at will, certainly will have to be in top form for the rest of the season if their team are to come out on top.
These two players are getting red hot when it counts the most down the final stretch. Past history says that they are unstoppable locally.
"Packy" has won many trophies recently with Cougars and "JR" has seen Village to a triple crown and many double-winning seasons.
With it all to play for in weeks to come, are there any other players out there that could sway the title race? Could someone like young Jason Lee of Village have the final say or Lashun Dill of Town or will it be Cecoy Robinson of PHC?
Only time will tell and that's what is exciting about football, the unpredictability.
