Champions crash in season opener

League champions Hamilton Parish Chargers went down in their opening match of the season against Somerset Flyers.

Last season's CellularOne Premier Basketball League champions Hamilton Parish crashed to defeat in their opening match over the weekend while two-time champions and last year's runners-up St. George's International picked up a promising victory.

Jonathan Lowe led Flyers' charge in this convincing win.

Lowe scored 29 points to pace the winners, while Jonathan Minors was the high scorer for Parish with eight points.

Bermuda international Dean Jones and Bill Dunn both contributed nine points to pace the winners to an opening day victory.

Bermuda international Chris Crumpler's impressive performance was all in vain as his Bearcats were beaten by a single point by the Cane Toads in highly entertaining and closely contested match.
