Coaches close to earning licence
More than 160 local club coaches are in the process of completing the Bermuda Football Association's (BFA) D Licence coaching course.
The BFA want all coaches participating in the Children's League and Youth League to have attained at least the 'D' Licence qualification.
The 'D' Licence has been specifically designed for coaches working in youth football, particularly with players between the ages of seven and 13.
The BFA started the course six months ago with the last round of modules before the summer being held this week.
BFA technical director Derek Broadley said he had been delighted with the feedback he had received from coaches taking the 'D' Licence.
"I am hoping the new youth leagues will really see the benefits of having 'D' Licensed qualified coaches," he said.
"We are down to the assessment stages which will be completed at the end of this month and the start of February.
"This week we will be a chance for those people who have missed modules to get them done. All the clubs have come through and it has been very well attended.
"A lot of head coaches and assistant coaches have come out."
The BFA's Children's League and Youth League start this weekend. The Children's League has under-eight, under-ten and under-12 divisions and is non-competitive in the sense there are no league standings or points system.
The Youth League will comprise of Under-14 and Under-16 teams and will feature a competitive knockout cup competition with team rosters of 20 players.
