Committee to draw up short list for Logie successor
Bermuda Cricket Board have appointed a five-man committee to find the next coach of the national team.
Lloyd Fray (chairman), Gary Knight, Neil Speight, Colin Blades and Garry Madeiros will make up the newly-created National Coach Selection Committee.
Their first task will be to sift through the 12 applications that the cricket board received for the post, and come up with a short list from candidates from the UK, Australia, West Indies, Pakistan and India.
There was even one applicant from Bermuda, although given that the job requirements asked for a minimum of a Level Three coaching certificate, a qualification – that according to the BCB website – no Bermudian is believed to have, the odds are the job will go to an overseas applicant.
Fray is confident that whoever is appointed will leave the Island with a highly qualified coach to replace Gus Logie who said earlier this year he did not want to renew his contract.
"Based on the quality of the candidates that have applied I am confident, once the process is complete, we will have a high quality internationally experienced national coach who will continue to develop and improve our High Performance Programme," said Fray.
