Southampton Rangers 142-1
Three of Rangers' Somerset Cup Match players helped demolish Social Club at Southampton Oval yesterday.
Player-coach Janeiro Tucker, Dwayne (Sluggo) Leverock and Dion Stovell each snatched two wickets while Stovell hammered 80 not out to lead the home side to a nine-wicket victory to keep alive their championship hopes.
Social Club have seen their chances of successfully defending the league title disappear and disinterest among the players was again evident as just 10 players showed up for this game.
They did attempt to make a game of it by putting on 50 for the loss of one wicket. However, it wasn't long before the Southampton bowlers took charge with visitors all out in 29.3 overs.
Nakia Smith and Pierre Smith were top scorers with 26 apiece.
Leverock was the leading bowler with two for 24 off seven overs with two maidens while Tucker had two for 28 off seven. Stovell gave up 43 runs for his two wickets in 8.3 overs and Malachi Jones, another Somerset Cup Match player, took one for 41 off seven
With Stovell in a no-nonsence batting mood Rangers reached their target in rapid time, requiring just 9.4 overs.
He faced 41 balls, striking 10 fours and five sixes in his quickfire undefeated knock. His opening partner, Kwame Tucker, was almost as brutal, finishing with 41 including seven fours and two sixes.
Clay Darrell got the lone wicket for Social Club at a cost of 22 off his two overs.
