Dowling hat-trick helps Eagles to victory
Somerset Eagles 5
Ireland Rangers 0
Darin Dowling bagged a hat-trick as de-mob happy Somerset Eagles staggered into the third round of the FA Cup at White Hill.
Aquino Grant and Troy Tucker also got in on the act as the Premier Division side eventually ran out comfortable winners yesterday.
But while Ireland Rangers were the team that received the stuffing, Kenny Thompson's men were very nearly the turkeys after wasting three times as many chances as they scored.
Eagles played like a team that had already broken up for Christmas and had their minds on food and drink rather than winning a football match.
They lost their shape, were sloppy in front of goal, and at times seemed to have little concern for the situations they were creating for themselves.
Fortunately for Thompson and his men however, they were up against a limited Rangers side who were even more impotent upfront, and had no answer to the pace and movement of their younger opponents.
Dowling's first goal after 20 minutes should have ended the game as a contest, such was Rangers' inability to really compete with their top-flight counterparts. But by that time Dowling, Grant and Rakeem DeShields had all managed to miss from inside the six-yard box, and it got worse as the half progressed.
DeShields wasted another opportunity, blasting straight at goalkeeper Devrai Bradshaw when clean through, while Dowling, Grant and Chioke Medeiros were also guilty of missing simple chances to extend the lead.
Thompson has been around long enough to know that a 1-0 lead in the cup, can very quickly turn into an upset if you don't take the game seriously, and his strong words at half time reflected that.
Even so, it needed a Rangers error to hand Dowling his second, and even though substitute Shakir Smith also managed to miss from six yards, Grant eventually made one tell to wrap up the game.
Tucker's free kick, and Dowling's third moments from the end gave the scoreline a more respectable look, but Thompson is unlikely to be of much festive cheer when he thinks about this encounter over the holidays.

MR Onions 0
PHC 6
A hat-trick from Jeff Franklin guided PHC to a huge win over a depleted MR Onions side at Southampton Oval.
Having lost many of their first choice players due to holiday commitments, the First Division side made a good showing of themselves until Franklin's first goal just before half-time.
Moments into the second half, Cecoy Robinson made it 2-0 before Kevin Lambe also got in on the scoring act to make it all but over at 3-0.
Franklin then got two more before substitute Jason Smith got the final goal to make it 6-0.
Wolves 1
Boulevard 6
Raymond Burgess scored four goals for Boulevard as they ran out winners over Wolves at BAA Field.
Assisting Burgess in the goalscoring department were Angelo Simmons and Keemo Bean, while Vincent Minors Jr. scored the lone goal for Wolves.

Marcus Johnson and Clay Darrell were on target for Young Men's Social Club against X'Roads at Bernard Park
