East deny West successive wins
The East denied their West counterparts a second successive clean sweep in the BF&M under-17All-Star match all-star match by winning through virtue of a better run rate.
The East (6.3) had a far superior run rate than that of the West (5.6), with West man-of-the-match Shaquille Jones scoring 58 in last weekend's game at North Field.
Drewonde Bascome, who scored 36 runs for the East, was their man-of-the-match, while Damali Bell took the play of the game with a stunning catch.
In the Hiscox Under-11 All-Star game, the West won by eight runs.
The West scored 85 for eight in their allotted overs, and their opponents could only manage 77 before bowled all out.
Man-of-the-match for the West was Chare Smith who took one wicket for five runs while also contributing 22 runs with the bat.
Isaiah Creighton scored 20 runs on his way to man-of-the-match honours for the East.
Sean Tucker took play of the game award with two wickets in 2.2 overs.
The BSG under-14 All-Star game followed the same script as the Under-11's, with the West winning by four wickets thanks to Justin Corday's heroics with both bat and ball.
Corday snatched two wickets for 10 runs and took two catches to guide his side to victory.
The East scored 102 for eight while their opponents managed to get to 105 for six to seal victory.
For his efforts, Corday was awarded not only man-of-the-match for the West, but also the play of the game for one of his catches.
Man-of-the-match for the East was Charles Marshall III, who scored 32 runs for the East.
Reginald Pearman, president of the Bermuda Cricket Board said: "I am pleased to see so much talent in Bermuda amongst our young players. Every year the standard of cricket seems to improve.
"I would like to thank Hiscox, BSG and BF&M the sponsors of our under-11, under-14 and under-17 Leagues and all the coaches who volunteer their time to assist our young players."
