Eight juniors picked for Carib Champs
Eight cyclists have been selected to represent Bermuda at the Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships to be held in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, next month.
The squad includes Aaron Place, Philip Woolridge and Thomas Godfrey in the junior male (17/18) group, Alex Godfrey, Ryan Gunn and Tyree Armstrong in the juvenile male (15/16) group and Hayley Evans and Sophie Adams in the juvenile female category.
The group have been training together under a programme run by former professional cyclist and team-mate of Lance Armstrong, Robbie Ventura.
Bermuda will be sending their largest contingent to the competition, now in its third year, and 25 nations will be taking part.
BBA president Peter Dunne said: "Our intent in selecting our representatives for this event was to identify riders who have demonstrated a real commitment to our sport and the training programme. These eight riders have been involved in cycling programmes for several years and have put in significant training in the last six weeks.
"Having a team of this size demonstrates that our juniors are continuing to progress and that bodes well for the future of competitive cycling in Bermuda."
