Hansey pounces to halt Boulevard run
North Village snapped Boulevard's three game winning streak with a late winner last night.
Boulevard, who played a big part in a competitive match, were finally undone by Michael Hansey's 82nd minute header from a free-kick which was sandwiched in between two Boulevard ejections as Jahmel Samuels and captain Leroy Stevens were both sent packing after second cautions.
Samuels received his first booking late in the first half for fouling Kenny Thompson and was shown the red card for a deliberate handball in the 67th minute.
Stevens committed his two offences in the space of a couple of minutes, first when he fouled Sergio Goater and then in the 86th minute for a reckless tackle on Elliott Jennings.
Boulevard will be without the two players for Sunday's match against another struggling team, Southampton Rangers.
Boulevard defied their lowly position during the first half when they created the three best chances before Village took the lead in the 31st minute.
Dwight Warren went close to putting Boulevard in front in the 15th minute when the ball broke free to him, and on his favoured left foot. Warren got off a good shot from the edge of the box but Nyon Steede in goal was equal to the task.
A series of touches got Warren into another scoring position just two minutes later before Kofi Dill extended a leg inside the box to steer the ball away for a corner just as Warren was about to shoot.
Youngster Shakai Crockwell had the other chance when he cut into the box to beat Peter Mahoney before shooting low past the near post.
Former Boulevard player Neil (Diamond) Robinson showed them how to finish when he scored with a shot that went in off the far post after Mitchell Steede dropped a free-kick.
Robinson was kicking himself for missing another chance from almost the same position when Thompson chipped a free kick behind the Boulevard defence for Robinson to run on and hit a first time volley that went past the far post.
Boulevard's equaliser came in the 39th minute when Haile Outerbridge latched onto a long ball upfield and outpaced defender Kofi Dill before shooting into the far post from an angle inside the box.
