HK shocks Bermuda

setback yesterday when the national team crashed to a shock defeat against Hong Kong in the ICC Trophy tournament in Malaysia.

Bermuda must now win its remaining two group matches against Papua New Guinea on Friday and Scotland on Sunday to qualify for next week's quarter-finals.

Only the top three in the tournament will advance to the World Cup.

Bermuda had never previously lost to Hong Kong in a cricket international, although the teams tied back in 1994 when Bermuda were declared winners by virtue of having lost fewer wickets.

Yesterday's match, however, was always going to be closely contested and ultimately came down to the final over when Hong Kong snatched the two runs required for victory.
